As a birthkeeper, I am passionate about pregnancy, birth, and beyond, not just on the phyical level of growth and emergence, but also on the level of the heart and the mind. As with all who love the professional role they hold in life, I find a huge portion of my time in conversation is on these huge and vast topics of pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum, becoming a parent, etc. With every conversation comes new understandings, each back and forth of words and wisdom a teacher. I love the learning, but even moreso I love the time I get to listen, I mean really listen, to mothers, their voice, their hearts, their minds and their stories.

 

Mamas within the childbearing year are in a particularily important time when their voices must be heard, their questions answered, their fears explored, their hearts held. As a Birth mentor, I listen, I answer, I explore and I hold. There are no topics too taboo or too silly, just real, raw, open, non-judgemental, heart-to-heart and evidence-based conversation.
