Mother Blessing (Blessingway)

A blessingway is a traditional Navajo ceremony, which celebrates a woman’s rite of passage into motherhood. The western version of the Blessingway is the ‘Mother Blessing’ which is the term inspired by the Blessingway, but changed out of respect for the Navajo people and their sacred ceremony.

The Mother Blessing is a celebration of new life, an honoring of the mother as she moves through one of life's greatest transitions,  a ceremonial show of emotional and spiritual support as experiences the many layers of becoming mother.  Each Mother Blessing is unique to fit the personality and needs of the birthing mother, but often include women circling women, henna adornment, flowers, blessings, the creation of a birthing necklace and a nourishing feast. Blessingways are always filled with joy, laughter and healing tears.

I have had the privilage to plan and facilitate many Mother Blessings and would be honored to support you in hosting one for yourself.  For the investment of $175 I will organize, provide all necessary goods and facilitate your blessingway. This includes:

  • Planning the full structure and all readings for entire ceremony (of course, always leaving room for what the mama wants to bring into her blessingway!).

  • Sending out of evites and full communication with all participate on what to bring and why.

  • Purchase of supplies including candles for each participant, flowers for head-wreath, essential oils for foot bath, supplies for necklace building, yarn for web-weaving.

  • Creation of beautiful, personalized "programs" for those that attend.

If you would like to buy all of the supplies, but have me plan and facilitate the Mother Blessing, the investment is $150.
